we run away from our discomfort... but it doesn't leave us. to heal we need to turn around and face it, experience it and once we truly do we are out of it. We heal and we grow.

Lisa: I am so thankful to God for you. The very week you sent me your final version to publish, I was suffocating in shame under the weight of a sin (withholding truth), that I committed because I thought if I told the (whole) truth, I would be turned away. As God moved to give me the strength to cry out: “Help, God, help me!” and sent someone to uncover the sin, deliver me and wrap me in grace, He reminded me of what you had written:
“We do not like to ask for help for fear that help will be denied. Often, we don’t acknowledge our need to be helped. Being helped looks like rescue and for many of us rescue came with a price, a fee we were required to pay with our tender physical selves.”
I had to pay. And yet I was not physically or sexually abused, I was spiritually abused. But even spiritual abuse causes wounding in our bodies, hearts and souls. Praise God that we do not have a High Priest, who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Unlike those who fed me another god as God, this God invites me to approach His throne of grace with confidence, so that I may receive mercy and find grace to help me in my time of need.
You were truly God’s compassion to me this week through your post. Oh how deeply He loves us. Oh to what great lengths He goes to call us home, again and again, to gently heal our hearts, our bodies, our souls. Thankful for you.
